Woman Faces Drug Charges After Fleeing During Traffic Stop

A Lawrenceburg woman faces a list of drug charges after allegedly fleeing during a traffic stop Saturday.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that the traffic stop was initiated around 6:15 p.m. on Mahr Avenue.

The reporting officer noticed a driver was swerving in a dangerous manner along the roadway. He said that as he turned his car around he noticed that the driver accelerated, traveling at a high rate of speed.

Reports show that the driver turned into the parking lot at B&K Apartments. As the officer followed he said he was hailed by a male witness who reported that the driver had turned into the parking lot at a dangerous rate of speed then drove the car behind the building.

As he followed, the officer noted seeing a woman dressed in pink walking alongside the fence.

Officers report that when they spotted the car, driver Brian Lance Dial, age 32, of Marcella Falls Road, Ethridge was pulling into a parking space.

Dial was ordered out of the vehicle after which officers searched both Dial and his vehicle for weapons. During the search they report finding drug paraphernalia in his jacket pocket.

Another witness told officers that Dial had not been the original driver of the car. The witness said that the male driver had jumped out of the car and fled. In addition, she said that a woman dressed in pink had exited and fled along the fence.

After obtaining registration information on the vehicle officers went to the 201 Jacobs Drive home of Brittany Lee Burns, age 26. They report that she admitted she had run from the vehicle. She granted consent for a search of her home.

During the search they report finding two bags containing drugs and drug paraphernalia hidden beneath some clothes in the washing machine. They also report finding components commonly used in the production of methamphetamine.

As a result of the incident Burns was arrested on charges that include promotion of the manufacture of meth, possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of a legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and three counts of simple possession.

She was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center with an initial court date of March 6, 2014.

Dial was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to answer the charge in General Sessions Court on February 6, 2014.

Authorities report that a referral was made to the Department of Children’s Services due to the fact that Burns’ two children were living at the home at that time. They note, however, that the children were not at home at the time of her arrest.

Officers report that they were able to determine that Adderall pills found in Burns’ possession actually belonged to two children for whom she babysits.
